Re: United team selection could negatively affect our CL chances
TakashiMike so the idea is that if we have a few CL games that will ensure that we keep our best players? Funny how our most recent experiences in Europe didn’t build a winning mentality. Have you forgotten WHU 0 Astra Giurgiu 1? No doubt a few games like that, plus back to struggling in the PL and Rice will sign a long term contract.
When would be ready? How about a world where we don’t hold our breath when our one striker goes off on a sprint? The same when our first choice keeper hold his thigh? When if our best player has some games out our form doesn’t go to hell? When we live in a world when we have more than one season in the top half of the table? Where qualifying for Europe doesn’t involve winning ALL of our remaining games. When we can win perhaps half of our games against teams in the top six. When our owners actually have some real money to actually compete. When the atmosphere at the club, when the crowds come back, isn’t so toxic that if you post on a forum that perhaps not qualifying for the CL isn’t the end of the world some knuckle moron dragging

too soon? we haven't won anything for 40+ years. in your world, when would we be ready? it's not about being good enough for real madrid, it's about building a winning mentality and trying to keep our best players. that won't ever happen if the limit of our ambitions is staying up each year

I think ParadiseLost is spot on with his assessment and as hes found out if ChillTheKunt disagrees he just labels you a new breed mong
Think we will finish 5th even if we win all our remaining games,I've enjoyed the ride and will travel on the Europa tour next season if allowed

Re: United team selection could negatively affect our CL chances
Man Utd had an excuse for fielding a weakened team against Leicester
Man City however don’t have one for fielding their 3rd choice keeper tonight
Goes against the premier leagues rules for fielding the most competitive team you can within reason in order to make the league fair

Re: United team selection could negatively affect our CL chances
I said it MIGHT have come too soon and Moyes might have hinted at something similar himself. One striker with dodgy hamstrings and you think we’re ready for Real Madrid.
I can see you are a deep thinker.
If we do qualify for the UEFA there will be more than a few who will worry about how we deal with that schedule, but they of course won’t be REAL FANS either will they?

NF? That's shockingly bad BANTZ.

Well as much as you'll be gagging for a defeat tomorrow, given your girly vertigo regarding our current league position, I'll be cheering us on. I want Europe, I want us to compete in Europe, and if the pimps decide to throw yet another cup competition, then that'll merely increase the pressure on the tacky cunts from the (real) fans. Win/Win

There's your reality.

Re: United team selection could negatively affect our CL chances
Sweetheart, when you called people that on the NF forum was that why they banned you? When we started the season with our current small squad the popular thought was that we’d have another relegation fight. Now, after exceeding all expectations with that squad you think that we’re ready for the ECL Final next year. Ever looked at our results against big teams? Ever looked at how much English CL teams spend on their squads. Just because your Mommy puts 10p under your pillow doesn’t mean there’s a tooth fairy.

________

I mean the absolute state of this. When is convenient for you then, with the pimps in charge, sweetheart? Next season? 5 years? 10? The absolute DRIPS we have as 'fans' nowadays is pitiful and I don't need to lower myself to laughable lies to point it out.

Re: United team selection could negatively affect our CL chances
No I won’t, but CL was always going to be a huge stretch once the injuries started piling up. Europa with all its issues or the new Conference would be good but unlike you I don’t see us challenging ManCity and Chelsea in the transfer market. I’ve accepted that like most clubs we don’t have the money to compete at the very top and can live with that. Perhaps you just struggle with reality?

Re: United team selection could negatively affect our CL chances
The issue with recruitment is about the choice of managers as much as players. Coaches like Pellegrini or Bilic are going to be after different type of players than a Moyes or an Allardyce, so you get no continuity when the coach is inevitably sacked and the new boss wants to reshape the whole team, and then he leaves within 2 or 3 years at most and it goes on and on.

That's why you need a proper Director of Football, not a yes man for the coach or the CEO, but one who directs the long term recruitment of players and managers.

Never understood Chill why people like you need to get so abusive. Still if you think you don’t need deep pockets to succeed these days guess you are just going to be disappointed.

Re: United team selection could negatively affect our CL chances
IMO it was pretty much down to the legacy of catastrophic recruitment policy with multiple managers under GSB ( not really incl Moyes first time although he did contribute with Hugill) and the years before Moyes rocked up 2nd time around.

That led to a situation where we had an inadequate squad to start last season and to capitalise on the improvements that Moyes and the coaching team ( I think Nolan's influence aprticularly is perhaps greater than some think).

So with the fitness, organisation and tactics etc. we got into the top 4 discussion due to probably the best season for injuries I can recall in last 30 years. It finally caught up in the month of March and while we held on for a bit the absence of Rice and Ogbonna, huge influences in our team, impacted and sees us losing 3 out of 4 and out of the CL race pretty much.

In short, GSB stewardship and in particular Sullivan's narcissism which resulted in him being Head of Recruitment and Transfer policy, scouting etc.. over 10 years ultimately underminded the 11th season.
